Eid Mubarak Celebration
April 28, 2018
Muslim marks the end of their fasting month (Ramadhan) through the celebration and festive of Eid-al Fitr. The celebration itself is constructed upon many sequences, including prayers and gathering with people they associate as a family. This year, the Indonesian community in Madison celebrates Eid-al Fitr through Halal bi Halal: an Indonesian ritual done after Eid al Fitr where people gather, eat together, and reconcile with their friends and family.

Although the practice of Eid al Fitr is closely correlated with the religion of Islam, the event of Halal Bi Halal was attended by individuals from all kind of nationalities, religions, cultures, and backgrounds. What’s most important is they all have one aim: to reconcile and to maintain good relationship within one and another. Selamat Hari Raya Idul Fitri 1439 H; Mohon Maaf Lahir & Batin from PERMIAS Madison to you and your family!
Indonesia Night 2018: Discover Sumatra
April 28, 2018

A large-scale cultural rojak, Indonesian Night 2018 was a night to remember. Ethnic music started off the night, with traditional dances such as the Tari Piring mystifying the crowd right after. A moment of reprieve came in musical poetry (Musikalisasi Puisi), followed by a student rendition of the time-honored Saman Dance.
With a remarkable performance by the student band came the end of the presentation, and the start of dinner! As tantalizing treats were lined up across the hallway, students, faculty, and alumni alike partook in the sampling of the various delicacies of differing locales Indonesia had to offer, enjoying the exposition of its locale that came with it.
As the final fanfare signaled the end of a successful Indonesian Night, the Indonesian community was filled with newfound determination. With heads held high, we embarked on a new chapter of our beloved community, with great optimism of the future of PERMIAS.

Indonesian Independence Day Celebration
August 20, 2017

Not even being separated from home by the Pacific Ocean can stop Indonesians from meeting every year, singing patriotic songs, eating krupuk dangling from strings, racing in sacks like little kids, gorging ourselves on lots and lots of good food, and just being happy and proud to be Indonesian. Happy Independence Day 2017 from the Indonesian community in Madison! Merdeka!
